Top Ten Reasons to Use the SMHS College and Career Center
- Cal-Soap assistance for college on-line application and financial aid on-line applications, scholarship applications, searches and websites.
- Career speakers, career research lab and library resources. We use Eureka, Career Cruising and ASVAB for career tests.
- 24 Palomar College and Career research computers for student use with I.D. card and internet privileges.
- Military Reps for U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Navy may be contacted through the SMHS College and Career Center, 760-290-2200 X 2226. The SMHS College and Career Center administers the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Exam (ASVAB). Students will need to sign up in the SMHS College and Career Center to take ASVAB test. Test date and time will be posted on the Knights Bulletin.
- Work Permit applications are available through the College and Career Center. Students who wish to secure a job must have a work permit. Work permits must be renewed yearly for students between the ages of 15 ½ - 17 years of age.
- Job listings - a job board and on-line applications are available through our Palomar computer lab.
- Assistance with job applications and interview skills.
- Community Service, Apprentice Training, ROP Internships, International and Summer Program listings are available through the SMHS College and Career Center.
- SAT/ACT college prep test help. Information on school tutoring programs.
- College, Career, Financial Aid, Scholarship and Life Skills workshops are offered to students and parents throughout the school year. For updated monthly scholarships, college and career events please go to counseling link under Edline or check the Knights Bulletin.
