Mr. Chindlund, Ms. Kelts, and Ms. Frank are excited to get ALL students MOVING through their physical education program at LCM. As a team, we have been inspiring students together since 2012. The Physical Education program is geared toward giving students the skills and knowledge necessary to a lead and active and healthy lifestyle.
Kevin Chindlund is staring his 4th year as the head Physical Education teacher at La Costa Meadows (previously LCM's Reading Intervention teacher). Coach Chindlund is in his 10th year as the Head Track & Field/Cross-Country Coach at San Marcos High School. Coach Chindlund is a competitive runner, so you may see him running around the San Marcos/Carlsbad area (be sure to scream "up, up, up" and honk if you see him!)
Amy Kelts has been with the LCM PE team for 8 years now! Coach Kelts has a degree in kinesiology and has been coaching students in various sports for years. She is an accomplished tennis player and now passes on her skills as the JV tennis coach at San Marcos High School and in her own personal business coaching children and adults alike. She enjoys the beach, sailing, and wind surfing in her free time as well as spending time with her two daughters who both attended LCM in the past.
Meagan Frank is starting her 4th year here at LCM. Currently Coach Frank is working to clear her elementary teaching credential, and has been active working with children since she was a young teenager. Coach Frank’s roots in the teaching profession began to take hold at a martial arts dojo where she headed her own classes at age 14, and a few years later ran a physical education program at a private preschool during her early years in junior college. Her principal form of physical activity had been martial arts (for the past 17yrs) and grew to include water sports such as water skiing and stand up paddle boarding as often as possible.
We look forward to another excellent year with all of our La Costa Meadows Dolphins!
